An oilsands carbon capture and storage project north of Edmonton will move forward now that the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) has given Shell Canada Limited.
The decision came July 11, 2012 following a series of March 2012 meetings for the board in Redwater, Alberta, to weigh public safety, environmental stewardship and resource conservation regarding the $1.35-billion Shell project.
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency announced in March of 2012 that Shell Canada Limited is proposing the project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) from its existing oil sands bitumen upgrader, the Scotford Upgrader, located northeast of Edmonton, Alberta.
